Setting Your RALLY-PHOTO Sample As your Desktop Wallpaper
You know what desktop wallpaper is, don't you? It's the main Windows screen (the one with shortcuts to 'My Computer' and other applications on it that you see when you start your computer). You can set a picture as the background - this is called the 'wallpaper'. When you buy a print from RALLY-PHOTO.COM, we send you a high resolution sample (without watermark) to check that we've got the correct photo (mistakes do sometimes happen) and to let you check the quality of the picture. You can set any of these samples as your desktop wallpaper, and see your car in action every day of the week. If you get fed up with it, you can always change it to another image, or just have a plain background.
Here's how to set your sample photo as your wallpaper. These instructions are for Windows XP, but Windows 95/98/ME/2000 all operate in a similar way, with only minor differences in the labels of some controls:
Firstly, open the email with the sample photo. Right-Click the photo that you want to use, and select the 'Save As'. Save the file to your hard disk. Although there is an 'official' place to store wallpapers, in reality you can save it anywhere.

Close or minimise any applications that are open (you probably have an icon at the bottom left side of your screen (next to the 'start' button that allows you to 'Clear Desktop'. What you should now see is your basic desktop, with its icons but no open program screens. With your mouse, right-click and take the 'Properties' option.

The 'Display Properties' dialog opens.

Select the 'Desktop' tab at the top of the dialog box. Now click on 'Browse' button (right hand side, about the middle). A new dialog opens that allows you to navigate to the location in which you saved your sample photo.

Do that, and select the photo that you want to use.If necessary, click the 'Open' button. You now return to the previous dialog box, but you should now see your selected photo in the 'monitor' at the top. Click'Apply' to see what the wallpaper looks like.

If it is too big or small, look for the 'Position' control in the dialog box and set it to 'Stretch'. This will force the photo to resize to suit the size of your monitor.
Once you are happy with everything, Click 'OK' to close the dialog and return to your desktop.
With your new wallpaper image set up, you might find that you would like to move some of your shortcut icons to make them more easily visible. You can do this very simply by clicking the icon, holding down the button and dragging it to its new location. If you can't change its position, the most likely reason is that your computer is set to 'auto-arrange' your icons. You can turn this off by right-clicking in any blank area of your desktop and taking the option 'Arrange Icons By'. Change the selected option from 'Auto Arrange' to 'Align to Grid'.
